You Are an Intercessor!

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

But stay alert at all times, praying that you will have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.  Luke 21:36

Intercession… needed today more than ever. Needed tomorrow too, and the next day even more.

What will your life be like in 2021? What about our country, your job, and your relationships? According to your prayers… will go our blessings!

Personal note:  I’ve long been fascinated with intercession. I’m loosely connected with a group of intercessors who report to me the impressions in their spirit for prayer. I also read other prayer warriors to get a sense of how they are praying.

My summary of how intercessors have been praying for the past few years:

  • More and more are being awakened in the middle of the night. Those who have a gift of intercession sooner or later realize that getting awakened in the middle of the night is a joyous price they pay to intercede.
  • Not so much concerned about politics but about releasing God’s presence and power.
  • A deep sense of a rift, as evil is afoot, and followers of Jesus are taking sides – some to deception and others to peace. A battle for the soul (not necessarily their eternal salvation), as many deceived Christians still have saving grace.
  • What gives peace is the right direction. Issues today are confusing. True intercessors are doing more listening to the Spirit and to others, than telling others what to think or act. They gain peace and then know how to pray.

The most important thing to know about intercession (I missed this point for years):  I thought intercession was a mystical form of prayer, bestowed upon saints far more gifted.

Many Christians believe that they are too inferior for effective prayer.

I was wrong!

The Greek word used in the New Testament for “intercession” is a word that is juxtaposed to the word used for “sin” in the New Testament. Sin means “missing the mark” while intercession means “hitting the mark.”

Sin is getting it wrong while intercession is getting it right.

The most important point about intercession!

Jesus is an intercessor. Jesus is at the right hand of the Father interceding for us (Romans 8:34)! The writer of the Book of Hebrews has this amazing statement:

Jesus is also able to save forever those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.  Hebrews 7:25

Jesus is the perfect intercessor because he always hits the mark; He always gets it right. He is in heaven right now interceding for you.

Intercession defined:  Intercession is joining with Jesus as He prays to the Father.  We can all do this!

We cannot fail. Romans 8 tells us that the Spirit has been given to help us know on what to intercede, and when we fail, He actually intercedes for us (Romans 8:26-27).

You are an intercessor. Will you accept this calling?

Intercessors stand with Jesus enabling God’s purposes on earth. As to your intercessions, go God’s blessings.

For such a time as this… You!
