May He grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your counsel! Psalm 20:4
Psalm 4, 20, and 103! My latter-day Psalms.
Through my years walking with Jesus, He has given me specific Psalms for each phase of my life – three for my early years of following Jesus, four for the first years of church ministry, three for marriage and having children, several for the years of teenagers and college, and now three to help finish the race.
My latter-day Psalms – Psalm 4, 20, and 103. What are your Psalms?
If the Spirit hasn’t indicated your Psalms, read through all 150 and ask Him which ones are for you in this stage of your life. Have fun as God’s Spirit takes up your challenge.
Or you can borrow my Psalms – 4, 20, and 103. Powerful and filled with promise.
The chapters speak of a positive and exciting future. I love Psalm 23, but “Jesus walking with me through the valley of the shadow of death” is more a eulogy and not exciting for the next 20 years of my life.
Some my age live as if they are in the valley of the shadow of death, but I’m anticipating…
You have put gladness in my heart. More than when the grain and new wine abound. Psalm 4:7-9
God is not finished with me nor you either.
As we live, the dregs of life too easily settle on our soul. More life, more dregs. Sediment from failure. Residue from difficult relationships, illnesses, accidents, threats, and actions from others. We need cleansing so that we aren’t mired in stress.
You have relieved me in my distress; be gracious to me and hear my prayer. Psalm 4:2
May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high! Psalm 20:1
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12
Psalm 103 has an explosion of prophecy and promise for all, especially applicable for those desiring to finish well.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle. Psalm 3:2-5
I like the idea of healing, redemption, a satisfying life, and youth renewed like the eagle. An eagle sees from a high perspective and soars from that knowledge. We can do this with age.
I want my testimony until Jesus returns to be about the great things God is doing. Through difficulties, His grace and mercy will be greater. Look for miracles, revival, and victory.
Some boast in chariots and some in horses, but we will boast in the name of the Lord. Psalm 20:7
