Let’s Meditate on Hebrews 10:19-25

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Warning: This Interruption brings you into the mind of Pastor Grant. You may never recover!

I get stuck on certain parts of the Bible.

I read, reread, and memorize these verses and they become a part of me. Hebrews 10:19-25 is one of those passages. Below, after each verse, I list my meditated thoughts:

And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus (v. 19, NLT).

What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus; What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. These are the words of the famous hymn Nothing But the Blood of Jesus, but every time I read this passage, I hear this song in my mind.

By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place (v. 20).

All other religions require good works for eternal life.

Jesus provided a new and living way. First, we rely on Jesus’s death and not our works. Second, we don’t have to wait until we die to know if we are good enough to be with God; we can have a relationship now.

And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water (vv. 21-22).

I challenge you, after finishing this Interruption, to go right into the Presence of God.

And don’t be apologetic but say, “Here I am, let’s talk.” Don’t worry about any fear, guilt, or doubt. Have confidence that the God who sent His Son, whose blood assures your entrance into the Holy Place, is eagerly awaiting your arrival.

When we understand that we can talk to the God of the universe about anything, we will become a regular in God’s house. (But you can’t sit in the front row; I have it reserved!)

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise (v. 23).

God keeps His promises. Those who habitually attend God’s Presence find that He gives both assignments and promises to help us with His calling.

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near (vv. 24-25).

We are never to walk alone in God’s tasks.

God brings us a community of saints in which we serve together. Most of our challenges, though, are not with God’s goodness but in the frailty of those serving with us. Therefore, we motivate one another to love and good works and do not forsake meeting together.

Now get out of my mind—enter the Presence of God, make your requests, and serve Him! And, personally, I want to associate with those interested in disciplemaking.
