End of Chapter Spirit Hacks

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The word “hack” has many definitions. Our computer can be hacked, others (not us) could be a “hack” at their job, or we hack pieces of wood with an ax for our fireplace.

Some might consider that I “hack” the Greek with my OGV (Old Guy Version) translation. “Hack” also means a workaround or shortcut, perhaps something we didn’t know that makes life easier.

Reading the Bible for years, I’ve noticed that the last chapter of the New Testament books contain spiritual growth hacks. “Hacks”—as in helping us grow closer to Jesus.

I hope no one becomes hacked off if I list a few of them:

A axe stuck in a log

Description automatically generated# 1  The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet (Romans 16:20, NLT).

Modernity dispels a supernatural enemy as a myth. The Apostle Paul writes that the God of peace can crush the Satan of fear and anxiety. Losing track of spiritual warfare allows our enemy to overturn our peace.

A axe stuck in a log

Description automatically generated# 2  Let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up (Galatians 6:9, NLT).

Perseverance is the key to most victories. How many of us, in the midst of serving, get frustrated and want to quit? Having faith and not quitting underlies all that we accomplish.

A axe stuck in a log

Description automatically generated# 3  Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results (James 5:16, NLT).

That is probably the best advice ever on maintaining a healthy spirit, soul, and body. Holding sin debilitates our relationship with God, others, and self.

A axe stuck in a log

Description automatically generated#4  Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you (1 Peter 5:7, NLT).

Casting anxiety on the Lord is a discipline. Catch that worry before it takes root in your soul by saying, “Lord, I give this to you.” Learn this hack to find victory over worry!

A axe stuck in a log

Description automatically generated#5  We are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for (1 John 5:14-15, NLT).

This is the best Spirit hack ever! The word used most often in the New Testament for prayer is “ask.” If we seek to please Him, we can be confident that Jesus listens to and answers our prayers.

Just five Spirit hacks in this Interruption. Read the end of book chapters in the New Testament for more hacks that will increase your grace and knowledge of Christ.
