The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17, ESV).
Control is the devil’s ploy; true freedom comes from the Spirit of God!
Everything in this world will attempt to control you – the demonic, the flesh, your pride, others, the government (especially the government), and anxiety.
You don’t stand a chance by yourself!
Second Corinthians 3:16-18 is a passage that I call the Bible’s “Control-Free Zone.” Learn this passage’s secrets and you will be uncontrollable – in a good way.
The three lessons of freedom…
Remove the Veil!
But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed (v. 16).
Paul was writing to the Corinthians about the control of the Law. Religion is a cruel master of guilt. The solution for this control – and all control – is, “… when one turns to the Lord.”
When you give your life to Jesus and let Him remove the veil over your eyes, you will know the truth about yourself.
Truth brings freedom.
Blame is an indicator of control. When you self-justify or get mad at others, your fears are in control. Only the love of Jesus will give you the courage to accept the truth about yourself.
Confess Daily That Jesus Is Lord!
The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17).
Any thought, teacher, preacher, or friend who diminishes the Lordship of Jesus is of the evil one. The Devil challenged LORDSHIP when he tempted Eve resulting in his (not Adam and Eve’s) control of the world.
Recognize the subtle persuasions in the spirit of this age.
I heard someone say recently, “The church is growing because it’s one of the few churches in the area that still narrowly follows the Bible. Other churches are more open to love.”
My thought, “Is this statement the spirit of the age or the Spirit of the Lord?”
Be Transformed!
We all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:18).
When you remove the veil of your own control you will see Jesus. Seeing Jesus is transformation.
The voices of this world are loud – too easy to hear and difficult to shut down. Jesus is the quiet voice in your conscience. His words rip open the pain from your wounds not healed and filled with bitterness.
We look to Jesus and are transformed.
Glory dispels control.
