Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for people (Colossians 3:23, NASB).
This is Interruption #1455. Some notable facts:
- Each Interruptions post averages 500 words. Five hundred times 1455 equals 727,500 words. An average Christian book is 50,000 words. If all Interruptions posts were put into books, that would be 14.5 books or 3.6 books per year.
- It costs about $700 a month to write Interruptions. No organization supports this ministry; it is just my wife and me, along with friends.
- Writing an Interruption can take 20 minutes to three hours, depending on the research and whether I need to read a book for further insight.
To write Interruptions, most mornings, I get up early, read my Bible, pray, and then ask the Lord what I should write about. A topic forms in my mind, and I sit down to write. When I’m finished, I send it to a good friend, Sharon Wildman, for editing, and when finished, she sends it to my wife, who places the words on a page with graphics and schedules it to be emailed six days a week at 6 a.m. EST.
I used to preach regularly, receiving instant audience reactions. There was nothing worse than a joke that fell off a cliff, and there was nothing better than ten people responding at the end of the sermon to receive Jesus as Savior.
But with Interruptions, I often wonder about your reaction.
Recently, I was sitting in a coffee house in Urbana, Ohio, when two sisters came up to me and told me that they were blessed to read Interruptions every morning. And I received this note from a former professional newspaper editor. . .
I praise the Lord for you, Pastor! The way you share is so real to me. I’m seldom up to date with Interruptions because they are like dessert: I like to know that I have something very good to anticipate being blessed.
Thanks, I’m praying that you stay up to date!
Editor Sharon uses the website Grammarly™ to help with editing this blog. Recently, she sent me statistics about Interruptions from Grammarly!
- Interruptions is 98% more productive than other Grammarly users. Very few write 500 words six times a week.
- We are more accurate as to facts in what we write than 97% of Grammarly users. . . probably thanks to Sharon!!
- While writing Interruptions, I use more unique words than 94% of Grammarly users. HHHHMMMHHM!
Last week, a Nigerian pastor, who is always up to date with Interruptions, sent me a list of 15 other Nigerian pastors who want to receive the blog. What can you do to help with this ministry? Send in the names and email addresses of those you believe should become honored recipients. The reason I blog is that I find joy each morning when writing Interruptions!
Blessings!
