The Joy of Being Interrupted

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10b, ESV).

Our lives will be interrupted — hopefully for good, but we know difficulties too. What happens when our lives are interrupted? We need wisdom and encouragement for those moments — whether good or bad.

That’s why I write Interruptions!

In March 2020, I sat on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, considering the soon transition from being the Senior Pastor of Fellowship Church in Springfield, Ohio, for 49 years. Thinking about my next years of serving God, I was interrupted by God when He said. . .

Be a good steward of the content that I have given you!

Arriving back from Israel during COVID-19, my wife and I were quarantined in our house for two weeks. I began writing Interruptions to stay in touch with the staff and members of Fellowship. I got up in the morning, prayed, received an idea, and began writing — and 100, 500, 1000, and now 1509 blogs later, I continue to write.

I hope you enjoy being interrupted by the blogs that arrive by email six days a week at 6 a.m. Eastern. No one gets up early and writes 500 words for five years without joy as a motive.

When someone compliments me about this blog, I respond, “It’s a joy to write!” And I’ve noticed that during moments of discouragement, finishing a blog each morning returns my soul to the joy of the Lord.

After about 500 blogs (a year and a half into writing them), I thought, “Writing Interruptions is being a good steward of the content He has given me.”

A little slow on the uptake, Pastor Grant!

My content has been used by God to interrupt frustration or discouragement in lives, allow many to trust in the Bible, give insight into the end times, and provide action steps for growing in Christ.

For this, I’m grateful, and for these comments from readers. . .

I love your Interruptions. And especially am thankful for learning how you pray and how you pray for your family.

I’m not sure how the heck I got on your mailing list but I’m sure glad I did.

Your Interruptions gave me profound and practical insight in the spiritual fight that we encounter daily.

If you ever need funny stories to share with your readers about your childhood, just ask me, your sister.

I love receiving Interruptions in the morning and often share them with others.

Recently, a brother in the Philippines composed this video about Interruptions. I know you will enjoy it.

Please help me interrupt others by asking them to sign up at www.grantedwardsauthor.com.
