Believe in the evidence of the miraculous works I have done, even if you don’t believe me (John 10:38, NLT).
During the last days of His ministry, Jesus confronted skepticism about His teaching by telling the Jewish leaders to believe in His miraculous works.
Doubt is a demonic stronghold afflicting our culture today. And seeing a miracle eliminates doubt quickly. This was the approach Jesus used with Doubting Thomas . . .
Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. “Peace be with you,” he said. Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!” “My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed (John 20:26-28, NLT).
A while back, during a personal time of doubt, I considered the miracles that I’ve seen in my life. Below are a few of them.
- • I once prayed for a lady with one leg shorter than the other. She was sitting down, and while I held her outstretched leg, it lengthened to equal her other leg.
- • The first time I preached a gospel message, everyone in the room accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
- • A young woman was telling me that she needed $127 to completely pay for a short-term mission trip, and as we spoke, someone she didn’t know walked up and handed her a check for—yep, you guessed it—$127.
- • I stood in an operating room with a surgeon and a patient who was to have a surgical procedure. He pointed at one x-ray with a visible tumor and another without the tumor. The difference was a prayer meeting between the two x-rays when a church had prayed for her healing.
We need to remember our miracles in times of doubt. In over 50 years of ministry, I’ve never talked to a person who hasn’t experienced some type of miraculous event (and this is true even of non-believers).

There is nothing illogical about miracles if a Creator God exists. If a God exists who is big enough to create the universe in all its complexity and vastness, why should a mere miracle be such a mental stretch?
What are our miracles? Jesus showed Thomas pierced hands and a wound in His side. How has Jesus revealed Himself to us? Jesus still helps our doubt today, just like He did with Thomas!
Let’s remember our miracles.
