There is no better Psalm for 2023.
There is no better Psalm for 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028, and 2029 … and hopefully, we won’t need this Psalm for 2030 because the Lord comes back at the end of 2029!
Verse two teaches that we should praise the Lord every day in 2023: Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.
Verse four says that we are to train our children to praise God in 2023: One generation shall commend your works to another and shall declare your mighty acts.
Verses 10 and 11 state that all His works should praise His Name in 2023: All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord, and all your saints shall bless you! They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power.
Consider Psalm 145 as a multi-tool Psalm, as it has verses for …
When we sin and stumble: The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love (v. 8).
When we are discouraged: The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down (v. 14).
When we need answers for our desires and requests: You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing (v. 16), and He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them (v. 19).
When we are lonely: The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth (v. 18).
Let’s understand the purpose of Psalm 145. Have you ever read a book or listened to a sermon that gave lots of information about topics that had no practical relevance to our current life situations?
Psalm 145 teaches one thing – just one – that, if learned, will change our lives: My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever (v. 21).
Learning to praise is the key to success and victory in 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028, and 2029 – and in 2030, we can praise Him face to face!
Psalm 145 is the most practical of all the Psalms!
Oh yeah, remember to shout, “Go Bucks!” tonight.
