Psalm 34 summarizes the promises of God found in the other 149 Psalms – and also the rest of the Bible.
Live the following promise to snuff out modern-day anxiety:
~ I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears (v. 4).
Read this verse over and over while considering COVID or any other disease:
~ Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all (v. 19).
Worries about finances and rising prices?
~ The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing (v. 10).
When the Bible teaches promise, the authors use extravagant language, with no fine print, and no reason to doubt. No diminutive comments like, “If it is the Lord’s will.” The promises of Psalm 34 boast in God’s power.
~ Delivered me from all my fears (v. 4).
~ Saved me out of all my troubles (v. 6).
~ Lack no good thing (v. 10).
~ The Lord hears and delivers us out of all of our troubles (v. 17).
The promises of God come with obedience through which we grasp and actualize God’s peace, power, and provision.
~ I will bless the Lord at all times (v. 1).
~ I sought the Lord and He answered me (v. 4).
~ Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints (v. 9).
~ Keep your tongue from evil (v. 13).
~ Turn away from evil and do good (v. 14).
Scattered throughout Psalm 34 are what I call “memorables”, or verses you should memorize.
For spiritual warfare:
~ The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear the Lord (v. 7).
For worship:
~ Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good (v. 8).
For renewed hope:
~ The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and His ear toward their cries (v. 15).
Amen, Amen, Amen!
