The Apostle Paul writes, “We walk by faith and not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Faith connects us with what is real. Science claims to study reality while debunking faith as nonsense. The Bible teaches that everything in this world is temporary.
Paul writes:
We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18).
While science produces technology, faith explains the origin of science. The subject matter of science (all creation) will cease to exist, while faith gives entrance to eternity.
Better to live by faith.
Theologians have discussed the lunacy of science for decades. Science claims that “what can be seen” is the only reality, while theologians note that what we see is just a shadow or representation of true existence.
Lunacy is not being in touch with reality!
Paul the theologian writes:
At present we are men looking at puzzling reflections in a mirror. The time will come when we shall see reality whole and face to face! (1 Corinthians 13:12)
Robert Jastrow, an astronomer and the first chairman of NASA’s Lunar Exploration Committee, wrote about faith and what science has discovered about creation.
For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountain of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.
Wow. The “sight” of science ends in faith!
Faith turns on the light in a dark place. How many of us have emptiness in our souls? Do we feel discouraged or depressed? Do we have unanswered questions?
The answer: Faith.
Faith is trust. Even though we don’t see into heaven now, we still have trust in eternity. We believe God works all things to the good. It’s not blind faith because God sent Jesus.
The underlying fact of Christmas is not a child, but God born as a child.
Faith becomes historical. If science leads to God, there is a “double-down” for trust as history points to Jesus.
Eric Metaxas writes in Is Atheism Dead?:
The archaeological record, too, is nothing less than extraordinary. No one a hundred years ago dreamt that we would have continued to discover things that supported the historicity of the Bible, but we have. It has been an astonishing run, and it continues this minute.
Science and history end in faith!
With science and history supporting – we can add our testimonies of faith as we develop a relationship with God, we pray, and He answers.
Science, history, and our testimony! The ends of faith.
