Somber news during the Presidential briefing two nights ago. The White House totaled 100k to 240k possible deaths from the Coronavirus. The doctors and experts said the next two weeks would be very painful for our country.
Paul writes in Romans, “We walk by faith and not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
I believe in science but I also have faith in God.
In a recent online magazine, experts were asked their thoughts on how the world would change because of the Coronavirus. One expert headlined his thought with “Science Reigns.”
Dr. Birx and Dr. Fauci are quickly becoming legends because of their nightly appearances at the White House briefings. Dr. Birx held the nations attention with a PowerPoint presentation detailing growth curves of the pandemic! (Only in this time could a PowerPoint be so interesting.)
The presentation stated that without self-quarantine and other mitigating behaviors, the death rate could be 1 to 1.2 million but with outlined isolation procedures that rate should drop to 100,000 to 240,000.
One commentator said, “We are seeing science play out before our eyes.”
As Christians we walk by faith not by sight. We don’t ignore sight. But we stand in faith and not fear.
Wow, 100,000 to 240,000 deaths predicted in our country in the next few weeks.
Now is the time for intercession. We don’t ignore what we see with our eyes but there is a reality that is not seen. We believe in God and His ability to intervene – we pray in faith for God to heal our land. Let’s watch and pray.
In the Bible, the prophet Elisha had angered a king in another country. That king discovered the small village in which Elisha was staying and sent an army to capture Elisha. While Elisha slept, his servant got up early and saw an army surrounding the village. The army was waiting for daylight to capture and perhaps kill Elijah (and with guilt by association his servant as well).
The servant, instead of running away, went and woke up Elisha and said, “Master what are we going to do?” Elisha said, “Don’t be afraid for those who are with us are more than those who are against us.” (Elisha’s servant thinks, “Well, I’ve been outside the city and there are hundreds if not thousands of our enemies surrounding the village and only us two in the village!” ) Elisha sensing his servants doubt, prayed, “O Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes and he looked and in the mountains beyond the enemy were thousands and thousands of angels on horses and in their chariots. – 2 Kings 6 (OGV)
The Apostle Paul says that our battle is primarily against the spiritual forces of evil. As followers of Jesus, when confronting devasting news and potential defeat, we stand and pray! God has the final say. Yes, we respect and believe in science (God created science) but we speak loudly for God to intervene with miraculous power.
Below is my prayer for today.
God the enemy is surrounding our village. Death is approaching. I declare that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life! I declare that you hold all things in your hand. I ask that you send your Holy Spirit of healing. God we ask forgiveness for not seeking you as a nation before this time. You are a God of mercy and grace. We speak healing to our land. We speak defeat to this pandemic. We rejoice in all things. There are more angels and servants of God with us than against us! Lord open our eyes that we may see your glory! We ask in the name of Jesus, Amen!
